Yesterday's post which revisited my recent flirtation with a candidacy for SCGOP chair stirred up a lot of discussion, both on and offline. To say the least, I was flattered at the support I received.
I've pondered the pros and cons of a candidacy and talked with a few people. I'll share these and solicit feedback:

REASONS TO RUN:
- The convention will be boring and needs to be livened up.
- This would give me a brief platform to plug the blog and my issues of concern.
- It would be a way to respect my readers and thank them for their encouragement.
- It could stir up negative sentiments at the convention.
- It could upset the presumptive next Chair.
- It may facilitate hate trips for Floyd opponents.
- People may not take me seriously in the future.

this convention is going to be boring and will need some spunk. we will party out on lincoln street after the silver elephant in the vista. most of us are staying at the hilton from my group. lets see me, sumter, danny, bill, kathy, jerry, louise, bob, jc yeah we may hold a protest or something in your honor got any signs.
I wouldn't run just as a joke or a novelty. I would only run if you were passionate about it and was going to run hard for the job. It's not right that Karen gets a cake-walk without anyone challenging her. Frankly I dont see what makes her the bet for the job anyway. She is a manufactured political personality and not a committed Republican. You on the other hand are, so I say run Earl run!
The prospect of a Battle of the Bloggers- Sic Willie vs. The Blogland- is sublime.
I think that there are more productive ways to liven up the convention, dropping a hungry badger in Sic's pocket could be amusing as could the explanation of how Roxanne Walker's blog hid among the conservative blogs at Seawell's cafeteria page.
PS Earl as to "People may not take me seriously in the future." If they don't take you seriously now, what epiphany should come over them in the future?
