Republicans turn out in Manning

When you don't have a life, love BBQ, or you're a Republican (or all of the above, like I am), only then does it make sense to drive to Manning on a Thursday night for the Clarendon County GOP convention.

But I wasn't the only one who did that - in fact, the meeting was packed with a lot of new party members. In addition to local Republicans, a pack of candidates for state GOP offices were in attendance.

Karen Floyd was there, as was all four announced candidates for Vice Chair offices. Obviously this is a sign that little Clarendon County is becoming important to the statewide GOP.

It's also a good sign of what kind of a workhorse the Clarendon GOP has in their new chair, Moye Graham. Our hats are off to Moye and all five candidates who took the time and effort to come down for Moye's first meeting as Chair.

The Blogland loves the fine folks in Clarendon County and ALWAYS appreciates their hospitality.

Thanks Earl. Was glad you could come. Maybe next time we can get that beer from June.

Moye, all she needs to do is bring a couple of pounds of D&H for me to take home. You can buy the beer.

Great job running the meeting last night.

Really a great meeting last night. Enjoyed getting to meet all the candidates, and hear about their hopes for the GOP at county and state levels.

Flotown has decided to schedule at the same time as Clarendon, Rhino.. Last night was the first meeting of the new leadership, so I stayed here to cover Ken Ard's announcement.

Understand Clarendon possibly is going to move their meeting where they will not have to compete with the wicked witch of the northeast. Will hate to see this happen but can understand. Clarendon probably can still get good speakers because of connections but is it worth it. Probably not.

    Earl,

Had a chance to review. Thanks for the positive coverage. Good to have seen you in Columbia. We enjoy having you in Clarendon. I'll spring for BBQ and an adult beverage. Let's continue to work to make the conservative movement succeed in both Clarendon and in the state.
