First round of the 12th Circuit Solicitor race goes to ...
Republican candidate Mary Parham, whose turnout was considerably larger than that of the incumbent Democratic Solictor Ed Clements (both candidates held their announcements today). Parham was joined by a turnout of over 100, featuring a large cast of Pee Dee leaders, including law enforcement and public safety officers from across the two-county judicial circuit.
Clements' event, as shown below, saw far less turnout, numbering about 35. We've been informed that there were a number of criminal defense attorneys in attendance.
We guess the local defense bar in Florence and Marion Counties has done well under Clements and couldn't help but show their appreciation the work he's been doing. But if we were running for re-election as an effective prosecutor, these aren't the kind of folks we'd have invited to our campaign kickoff.
Rest assured the Blogland will be talking more about the prosecution records of the candidates seeking this office real soon.

Sorry, but this post is weak. I expect better of this blog.
Rose Mary Parham turned out over 100 today. The media said there were 45-50 at the other event. It's not if you win or lose...it's how you play the game!
If Rose Mary turned out 100 people, good for her. I think that is impressive enough. I think it's pretty lame that some feel the need to bolster that turnout by downplaying Ed's. But if that's "how you play the game," ok.
The only thing that means anything in politics is votes. I thought both candidates should be pleased with their turnouts. And I think November is long way off.
