Andre Bauer says "Thank You"

... and thanks back at Andre for fourteen years of service in the General Assembly, as well as for some of the most memorable personal campaign experiences I've ever had.

Andre has given a great amount to South Carolina. His record of constituent service cannot be surpassed, and his dedication to serving our older citizens was without parallel. The cards were stacked against him, which is a shame because South Carolina would have had a focused, tirelessly energetic and successful governor had he been selected. It is not to be, but a huge amount of institutional knowledge -- and the huge potential of someone who believed fiercely in the win-win concept -- walks out of the public service door when he leaves in January.

From one perspective, the GOP has been cursed with an abundance of viable and capable candidates this year. Outside of alleged chimpanze wrestling exhibitions, and even for some in those frays, 'tis a shame that we've not an obvious spot for those that "also ran" that weren't running from the shelter of an office that has a term that isn't concurrent with the one being sought, e.g. city and county councilmen, state senators, unindicted Democrats, et al.

Earl, reckon Leighton or Alan might hire Henry?
