Which might explain why those reports were uploaded to where nobody could find them. As many a veteran trial lawyer will tell you, hide the facts you don't want uncovered and hope nobody asks questions.
But in the Blogland, we LOVE to ask questions.
Rosemary Parham is working her tail off to raise money and is leaving Clements behind. On the July 10th disclosure, Parham had raised $46,847.13 in donations, with $24,792.49 cash on hand. By contrast, Clements had raised $26,010.81 in donations, with $13,578.55 left in the bank.
Clements' supporters may try to point out that our figure leaves out the $17,800 loan his campaign is carrying, but we didn't overlook that. When a long-time solicitor is getting beat two-to-one both in donations and cash on hand, and has to start borrowing money well before the campaign begins to heat up (and still has less cash on hand and lags behind his challenger in total income), it's never a good sign for the incumbent.
But it's a good sign that this is likely to be THE hottest race in the Pee Dee this fall, as well as that Parham's waging a stone-cold serious challenge to Clements.
