Treasurer Loftis' first step towards greater transparency
Kudos to State Treasurer Curtis Loftis, who has embraced the concept of transparency in his office by posting his daily calendar on his official website (http://www.treasurer.sc.gov/), allowing people to keep up with who he's meeting with and what is being discussed on state time.
This is promised as "the first piece of Treasurer Loftis’ ongoing effort to make state government more open and accessible to taxpayers."
While the current calendar is posted as static documents, software upgrades, which are expected by March, will allow real-time updating of the calendar.
Reportedly, this software may include a feature which will allow readers to cast votes in real-time as to when Loftis is allowed to the bathroom and see how often the Blogland is visiting his office.
Stay tuned.
