Blocking Sharia Law or dodging voting records?
Recently, FITSNews felt the need to rake Senator Mike Fair over the coals for his efforts to keep Islamic law from being used in the United States:
Fair’s bill is the latest manifestation of the so-called “Sharia Law Ban” movement, which presumes that radical jihadists are seeking to supplant American law with Islamic law.
Obviously that isn’t happening … which makes this yet another example of South Carolina RINOs offering up imaginary bogeymen in an effort to prevent you from focusing on their abysmal fiscal records.
If you want to review the legislation for yourself, Senator Fair's legislation is Senate Bill 444, and there's a related House Bill (3490) on the matter, sponsored by Rep. Wendy Nanney (R-Greenville).
FITS alleges this effort is a smoke screen, but is it really? Let's look at some of these issues ...
FITS alleges Fair was sponsoring the legislative in an attempt to distract voters from his fiscal record, based upon the S.C. Club for Growth's scorecard. However, it's important to note the co-sponsors of the bill, Senator Lee Bright (R-Spartanburg) is listed as one of the group's "taxpayer heroes". Nanney, the primary sponsor of the House version, is also listed as one of their "heroes", as are co-sponsors Dan Hamilton and Tommy Stringer.
So if that's Fair's motive, then what were Bright, Hamilton, Nanney and Stringer trying to accomplish?
We don't disagree with the FITS assertion that ultimately federal law, which prohibits the use of sharia law or any other sort of cultural rules or laws in the place of local, state and federal laws, would trump a misguided local judge. But these kinds of cases originate in local and state courts, requiring an appellant to have deep pockets to reach a friendly federal venue should a lower court defy federal law.
This means if you're a battered spouse with little money to appeal a bad court ruling, you could be in for a lot of trouble.
Sometimes motives certainly need to be examined in understanding why things are really done the way they are in Columbia, but in this case, the "RINO shield" charge doesn't seem to fit, nor should such arguments be used to take away from valid concerns about issues such as Sharia law and the effect such issues can have upon groups in society, especially women and children.
In this instance, South Carolina legislators seem to be trying to head off a problem before a rogue judge can set off a legal powder-keg. This is supported by a number of discussions we've had on the subject. As we don't see many instances where legislators work to head problems off in advance, we're not sure what's wrong with trying to get ahead of this issue.

Thailand -- Muslim 4.6%
From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population.
They will push for the introduction of halaal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply. (United States).
France -- Muslim 8%
Philippines -- Muslim 5%
Sweden -- Muslim 5%
Switzerland -- Muslim 4.3%
The Netherlands -- Muslim 5.5%
Trinidad & Tobago -- Muslim 5.8%
At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world but to establish Sharia law over the entire world.
When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions (Paris -- car-burnings). Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats (Amsterdam -- Mohammed cartoons).
Guyana -- Muslim 10%
India -- Muslim 13.4%
Israel -- Muslim 16%
Kenya -- Muslim 10%
Russia -- Muslim 10-15%
After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning:
Ethiopia -- Muslim 32.8%
At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare:
Bosnia -- Muslim 40%
Chad -- Muslim 53.1%
Lebanon -- Muslim 59.7%
From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels:

After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide:

Of course, that's not the case. To satisfy their blood lust, Muslims then start killing each other for a variety of reasons.
