Guest op-ed: Is Sarah Palin running?
This guest op-ed comes from Blogland reader Charlie Lybrand. Lybrand has been the elected Register of Deeds for Charleston County since 1995. You can submit your guest op-ed, which will be printed verbatim with attribution, by emailing earl@earlcapps.org.In December of 2010, I wrote a heartfelt endorsement of Governor Sarah Palin to this Blog in hopes that she would offer for the Presidency of our great country. Almost eight months have passed since my original article. I still consider myself a Palin Supporter. But I do have to tell you, my patience is getting a little worn.
I recognize Governor Palin’s announcement (in or out) is hers to make and not mine. But that doesn’t keep me from being Antsy. You see, having been through multiple primaries and six successful county wide General Elections, I’m ready to officially get this thing kicked off. Like most Palin supporters, I’m ready to get in this fight.
The way politics works getting in too early can be just as dangerous as getting in too late, so you have to be careful either way. Early on, the insiders sit and watch who has the money and the momentum and then they pounce. There is a lot of work to be done. It takes lots of time and lots of money.
Here’s my concern, while I’m willing to wait, I’m afraid some are not. You see, it’s a lot easier to get a supporter and keep him than it is to get one back from someone else.
I’ve heard Governor Palin say it’s too early and she is waiting to see if there is a conservative in the field that she could support. All that’s well and good but like I said, I’m getting a little Antsy.
Like most Republicans voters, I’ve still not found a dancing partner in this current crop of candidates. Perry comes close and he may be it, but I’m still holding out for Governor Palin.
I’m not as concerned about the Republican’s in the race to the White House as I am its current occupant and what he’s doing to our Country.
I want my candidate, Sarah Palin, to be on the stump pointing out as only she can, what a disaster this guy has been. I want our side to be as energized for this primary and the general election as the Democrats were in 2008. Words can’t express how sick and tired I am of hearing President Obama whine. He’s the President of the United States for goodness sakes.
Yesterday he said, he had everything fixed then he ran into a bit of bad luck. Can you believe it? Our President (the most powerful man in the world) is blaming luck on how he’s running this country. Sad Ain’t It.
That gets me back to original thoughts. Ms. Palin, if you get a chance to read this, please give me a call and let me know what you’re going to do. I won’t tell anyone. I just want to know if I’ve a dog in this fight. I probably storied about not telling anyone because there are more people like me than you can imagine and we all want to know.
This is how we feel: RUN SARAH RUN, RUN SARAH RUN, RUN SARAH RUN.
