Tell Tim Scott to go ...

... have a Happy Birthday today.

Happy Birthday Jim DeMint!

Today is Senator Jim DeMint's birthday and we're told that yesterday was his wedding anniversary.

From the Blogland to Jim DeMint, we just wanted to say:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY and ANNIVERSARY!!!

Happy Birthday to Congressman Trey Gowdy

Best Blogland birthday wishes to Upstate Congressman Trey Gowdy, who is wrapping up his first term in Congress.

If you know him, be sure to tell him to enjoy his birthday - and to take Monday off to enjoy life a little!

Happy Birthday to Chip Limehouse

Chip Limehouse never seems to get his fair share of time on the blogs, so for his birthday, we're going to give him a little exposure by wishing the Chipster a Happy Birthday!

He got an early birthday present in June when he scored nearly eighty percent of the primary vote over political novice Peter vonLehe Ruegner, whose struggling candidacy floundered in the face of everything from poor polling numbers to questions about his residency.

If you know the guy, be sure to take a moment and wish him a Happy Birthday.

Chip, in case you're reading this, here's some cake for ya!

Fair Tax advocate says "No Fair"

... because he didn't get chocolate ice cream for his birthday today.  But we still want to wish John "Fair Tax" Steinberger a very Happy Birthday from the Blogland.

While we're not sold on all the details of the Fair Tax system, we're not thrilled with the current system either. Without people like John working to stir the discussion pot, we'll never get the kind of tax reform our state and country needs.

So today, our hats are off to John Steinberger. Thanks for your hard work and have a great birthday!

Happy Birthday to Senator Shane Massey

For it's second birthday greeting of the day, the Blogland wants to wish State Senator Shane Massey a Happy Birthday.

If you know him, be sure to do the same today.

Mary Pearson's Birthday Crisis

Counting is an important skill when you're the Treasurer of Dorchester County. Usually Mary Pearson, the county's treasurer, does a great job of this.

Except when she tells you her age. She always seems to get that number wrong.

Maybe she's 40, maybe she's 50. Who knows? In any event, be sure to wish her a Happy Birthday today!

Todd Kincannon thinks he's smart

But hopefully today, he'll drink himself silly, because it's his birthday.

Please join the Blogland in wishing one of the state's few Republican attorneys a Happy 37th Birthday!

Happy Birthday to Murrell Smith

Please join the Blogland in wishing a Happy Birthday to Sumter State Representative Murrell Smith!

Happy Birthday, Buck Brailsford

The Blogland wants to extend belated Happy Birthday wishes to Buck Brailsford. Buck is a loyal Blogland reader and one of Clarendon County's most loyal Republicans.

Buck's wife, June, has been a long-time officer in the Clarendon County Republican Party, playing a key role in keeping their illustrious Chair, Moye Graham (R-Graham Slough) in check. Their son, Henry, happens to own our favorite BBQ joint - D&H BBQ in Manning.

We appreciate their recent hospitality in inviting us to their place at Lake Marion for a recent birthday cookout. Friends like these are great to have!

Turning 41

This Sunday, yours truly turns 41. But according to my daughter Bonnie, I've been old for years - but she forgets this is the Strom Thurmond state, where age is relative. It's all what you make of it.

For those who are interested, there will be a small birthday gathering tonight in Clarendon County. It'll be at The Palms at Wyboo Plantation, which is right off SC 260 near the Clarendon County Airport. The event starts at 8pm and you'll have to buy your own drinks.

Mapquest this address for the event: 2576 Players Course Dr, Manning, SC 29102.

Today's Birthday Triple: Graham, Lisella and Martin

Sometimes, good things come in threes and there aren't many occasions better suited for good things and great times than New Years' Eve. In that spirit, the Blogland wants to wish a very Happy Birthday and an early Happy New Year's to three well-known and accomplished South Carolina politicos who are celebrating their birthdays today:

Moye Graham, the Chair of the Clarendon County Republican Party, a well-traveled international man of mystery and one of the legendary Four Horsemen of the Political Apocalypse. He's on a roll these days, having led Clarendon County Republicans in a unprecedented special election stunner, getting 48 percent of the vote in a spring State House special election race in a heavily-Democratic district.

Mark Lisella, a Lowcountry native who has become a well-known national Republican political strategist and direct mail guru. He's been on a long winning streak over the last two election cycles, especially in North Carolina races, and is hard at work gearing up for 2012 races.

Shane Martin, a Spartanburg County State Senator and automotive R&D engineering consultant who is gearing up for election to a second term in the Senate. His first race was a stunning landslide upset of the incumbent Senator by roughly two-to-one in the 2008 GOP run-off. He'll certainly be a formidable candidate for anyone who wants to take him on next year, but we haven't heard any names surfacing yet so maybe he'll get a free ride.

Happy Birthday to Shane Massey

For it's second birthday greeting of the day, the Blogland wants to wish State Senator Shane Massey a Happy Birthday.

If you know him, be sure to do the same today.

And she can even count

Counting is an important skill when you're the Treasurer of Dorchester County. Usually Mary Pearson, the county's treasurer, does a great job of this.

Except when she tells you her age. She always seems to get that number wrong.

Maybe she's 40, maybe she's 50. In any event, be sure to wish her a Happy Birthday today!

Day of mourning announced for Leslie Hope

One of the hardest-working governmental affairs types in Columbia is coping with a tragic event today and we ask our readers to take a moment to reach out to her on this occasion.

Leslie Hope turns 32 today.

Seriously folks, be sure to wish her a Happy Birthday today.

Today Kevin Bryant might lie to you

He may try to tell you he's turning 29 today. If he does that, don't believe him.

But do wish Kevin Bryant, a State Senator and pharmacist from Anderson who is also one of the state's first legislators to hit the blogosphere, a Happy Birthday today, however old he may be.

We won't tell you how old she is today

... because sources report she either paid us not to say, or threatened us into silence.

Either way, it's something that today's birthday girl and one of the most powerful politicos in Charleston County could do - Charleston County GOP Chair Lin Bennett.

Be sure to wish her a very happy birthday!

Happy Birthday to me

Yours truly will be turning 40 tomorrow. We were warned this day was coming, but wow ... it's another when that day actually arrives.

But who says we have to grow up?

We'll be celebrating Blogland style all day and night long. Stay tuned for pics from the event - and possibly a request for bond money.

Speaking of birthdays ...

Trey Walker, longtime S.C. politico and Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Haley, has a birthday today. If you know the guy, take a few minutes to wish him a happy birthday!

Turning 40?

According to reports from multiple sources, the editor/publisher/psycho of the Blogland will be turning 40 this month.

When asked for comment, Earl Capps admitted the allegations, confirming the date of said milestone would be reached this Saturday, February 5th.

Other reports about efforts to embarass the hell out of him for this occasion have been circulating, but nothing has been confirmed.
